Greetings to all from I-55 Mississippi!

Today at Trinity we finished the grouting on the tile that was installed yesterday one hour before we planned. We received additional help again from camp restore crews, thank you Walt!
When we arrived to New Orleans on Sunday we knew we had a job to do but to accomplish this huge project but as our closing devotion reminded us
Genesis 12:1-2 (NIV)
The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
He did each and everyone of us worked even though we were sore and tired and completed the task at hand.
I just wanted to give you all a little update and I will post pictures a little bit later.

Day 4 @ Trinity

Greetings all from New Orleans La!

Ah I could say three words and be done with the post tonight,,, God is good!
How ever that would not be like me to stop there.
It just amazes me how things can change in a 24 hour period,thank you for the prayers! Today we had additional help from camp restore due to the am rain and with the grouting,thanks Sean,Nate and Lauren YAY!!!!
The sanctuary,front entry,2 bathrooms and the hallway are tiled! We stayed till about 4:45pm tonight to finish up thanks to Laurie and some awesome tiling she did all week.
Sometimes there are things that are out of your control and even though you want something so bad it just does not happen and you give thanks for what you have and continue on.
This project is been proven time and time again that it is a God thing,no really finishing the tile (my goal) happened today when it shouldn't have and there are many more stories to go with this ....(a later date)
Tomorrow we will finish the grout of the tiles put down today and then have a devotion and on the road to Illinois.
It has been a great week and thanks to all the spouses who let us come down here ,again if it was not for their support of this mission as well it would not happen.
Today also we had time to shoot a little blurb as we caught Shelly in a ,shall we say yelling moment which turned out to be hungry......

Work Day 3 @ Trinity

Greetings to you all!

Today marks mid week,the half way slump the steam just starts to run out.
Today was a tough day at the Trinity with no supplies yesterday and goals that I (not the group) would like to have seen get done makes you appreciate the group you are with for support.
It's funny how when you go on a mission trip you ask yourself "whats your purpose" what's your reason ?
If you remember from a few weeks ago when I asked "what's your purpose"? Well, today I know my purpose this trip is to get as much done (a goal) that I can in just one week,and sometimes that's not Gods purpose. So I can be thankful that the crews we have are great workers,they love their Lord and love to serve,amen!

Today's progress we completed the sanctuary floor to about 90%. The back needs to be done about 33"X35'.The grouting is about 70% complete on the same area.
Tomorrow the plan will be to finish the grouting we have and move the operation to the front entry way and the bathrooms and complete the grouting by Friday afternoon.
Thursday marks our last full work day as we prepare to wrap it up on Friday and head back to Illinois.

Day 2 at Trinity Church

Greetings to you all from New Orleans!

Today was our second day at Trinity working on the tile with a minor set back,,,,,we ran out of tile at noon! Yup that's right the home depot dropped off the order about 4:15pm today...but it's all good!
As you can see by today's pictures that there was some heavy hitting going on....and some "slacking" going on this afternoon......

Tomorrow we plan on finishing the tile work in the sanctuary and most of the grout work and move to the hallway on Thursday....or bathrooms God willing!

Day 1 at Trinity

Greetings to you all!

Today was our first work day at Trinity to start the tile job of aprox 4500 Sq Ft .
Mike got us going on the right tile with a awesome lay out of the tile in the sanctuary ! It started out some what slow due to the fact we didn't have all of the supplies as of 8:30am yikes! But it was all good they arrived shortly after that....The tile are huge about 18" X 18" and are very awkward to handle .
See the photos below of the progress on the tile and also the video on the drywall progress!

As you can see it is a big area our hopes are that it stays true meaning the grout lines stay on track!

Day 2 - Arrival In New Orleans

Greetings to you all from New Orleans .

We have arrived today around 2pm to a warmer climate of 75º and over casted skies!
We hit the streets running with a trip to restore trinity to lay out the floor for tiling this week. Here are a couple of pictures of what has been done since we left on the 14th.

This is the entry way from the back of the church that is complete.The upstairs is coated and needs to be finished.
We are looking forward to getting started tomorrow and are going to start just a little early from the past due to the fact were on a mission.....and would like to get R done!

For Dawn (Steve's wife) who is have a procedure done this week.

Greetings all!
We've landed here in Southaven Mississippi for the night.
We ate at Gus's chicken and it was stellar!
Then we enjoyed some music on beale st.
Though we have about six hours to go we have tons of work to do once we get to trinity.
The roads were good all the way here till we hit effingham and there were cars and trucks all over the center of the road! Boy must of been ice......
Well all went well.

Greetings to you all from Southaven Ms.

Today marked our final day here at Camp Restore and an early morning rise to get R done at Trinity. We started off around 5:30am (for some) getting ready to head home after working at Trinity till 1pm.
Today's progress includes the dry wall being 92% completed and should be all done by Monday thanks to the Texan team who came in for a long weekend. The electrical has been 94% roughed in including the church itself. The out reach has done an awesome job with the grandpa Bills free coffee once again.

We concluded our work week with lunch and a devotion by our own Pastor Baerwolf and a MLK parade down Claiborne which I will get video of that up soon and a massive car convoy to Southaven where we are sleeping for tonight.

It has been another good year for the mission team coming down to NOLA to do work and out reach from the Katrina hurricane in 2005.
One just would not believe the devastation that this kind of storm would have on a community not only the buildings but the way it would affect you as a person,I am very honored to be able to help a brother or as in this case a congregation who is in desperate need.

And finally thank you all for being a part of our life to be able to share this with you.As Kevin say's life is to short to have a bad day!

Day 4 Trinity

Greetings to you all from New Orleans!

So it was another great day here in NOLA and the buzz word here is *****SNOW***** !
Today more drywall has been hung with the electrical work being advanced each and every day .
Grandpas free coffee outreach has been a big success as well as the food drive at Trinity today.

The volunteers are holding out pretty good with most not looking forward to the snow back home,but mostly praying the roads are clear of snow and ice.

Friday marks the last day here at Camp Restore and Trinity. It will be about a half day of work ,then lunch and clean up and on our way back home.
I want to thank each one of you for your support of this mission for each person here,whether you are praying for us , donations for the mission here in NOLA or just curious what it 's all about,thank you.

Greetings from New Orleans Day 3

Today was another productive day at Trinity with drywall being installed and electrical work being done now in the church area itself. Also today a crew went to the orchard and picked fruit that will be at the food bank at Trinity for the community on Thursday.
Today also marked a first , Shelly left early ....... Sure hope all goes well without her :-( but all for a great cause.

Tonight was our night to go out on New Orleans and we all decided to eat in the lower 9th ward at a place called "The Joint".

The food was very good the building ,well it fit the neigborhood but all in all I would go back and eat there again.

Then we took our tour of the French Quarter which ended up at Cafe Du Monde mmmmm! Those of you with FB can monitor the check in's!

Tomorrow is the push day here at Trinity with a lot of work that needs to be completed and the follow up finishes on Friday with our departure back to Illinois,snow bound so we here.

Tomorrow also I will post some of the "What is your Purpose " questions asked to several members of the teams here at Camp Restore.

Trinity day 2

Greetings from New Orleans Louisiana!

This morning greeted us with over casted skies and drizzle off and on all day but there was no rain on our parade at Trinity today!
It is safe to say that all the insulation is now complete! The dry wall is now in full action with no going back! The electric work is just zipping right alone as you can see Bob working on one of the panels.

As well it was a good day today here in New Orleans.

Tonights diner was rice,and a beef stew type mix with a salad and ice cream for desert,was pretty good for being away from home.

This years as well we were given "buffs" or we picked out of a bag which put us all on a team. Each team is doing a skit and differnt events through out the week ,which is just genius.

It's hard to believe this week is going so fast but it may not be that fast for you all back in Illinois,

so prayers for tonight if you may : Pray for all of the families back at home that they may be comforted in knowing that there loved ones are doing great work for the kingdom of God.

Day 3 Trinty Work day 1

Greetings to all from NOLA!

As I write you there is a huge number of folks watching the LSU vs Alabama game with a 12-0 lead for Alabama......with that said this town has been a buzz the whole weekend with many fans coming in a prepping for this game.

Today was our first day at trinity with much work done on day 1. Pastor scissorhand (aka Pastor Baerwolf) on lead with the insulation crew,Jon on misc carpentry work done, myself doing installation of hard wire smoke detectors and a ray of folks doing drywall.
Today was a good day at Trinity for all Yeah God!
Tomorrow is another day here at camp Restore and we don't know what it will behold but we do know that here in New Orleans there is hope.
Our internet here is ,well not the greatest so pictures are not going to be able to be uploaded but that's ok.
Kenny is doing well in case anyone was wondering.Also I did forget to tell you that we have over 150 college age kids here in camp and wow they all look so young..LOL!
Tonights diner was red beans and rice with corn bread and a pudding desert,mmmm this should be a interesting night here at camp restore!

For our prayers tonight if you all could pray for healthy bodies tomorrow and few sore joints for all and also another productive day at what ever it may behold.

Day 2 - Arrival at Camp Restore

Greetings from New Orleans Louisiana Camp Restore!

We all arrived today around 2pm all safe and sound.Travel was good today with a little rain in Mississippi and then once we hit the tail end of Mississippi the sun came out and the temperature was about 72 and a final of 78 in New Orleans today.

Tonight we had our first Restore diner of chicken and candy potatoes (aka sweet potatoes) with an awesome cake....

We also are doing a different game here at camp not sure if the out come will be good or bad?? But for the spirit of January......ok ask your person at camp what color they are?? Hmmmmm

So it is getting late here for an early day tomorrow are goal is 80 sheets a day? WOW should be an interesting day.

The weather should hold out for the week with projected rain Monday and Tuesday with sun to follow the rest of the week.

I do have some video that I will work on posting in the days to come along with the famous Pastor devo for the school.

Tonights prayers for our group of patients tomorrow and to be flexible with what ever is thrown our way on Monday.

Day 1 enroute to Mississippi

Greetings all!

Today was our first day to NOLA and we all faired well only one of us got to have a intimate talk with the Illinois state police:-( .. Tomorrow is another day.
We arrived in Mississippi this afternoon about 3:30pm ready to go. The weather enroute was pleasant all day and the temputure kept creaping up ...sweet!

Diner was served at about 5:30 and was just wonderful!
Pastor Baerwolf lead us in devotion tonight and Batavia kept us on track with our songs:-)
Tomorrow we are leaving about 7am with a wake up call at 6am... Just in case you are wondering we are sleeping in a church spread out all around in differnt rooms,quite comfy.
Till tomorrow folks please pray for continued safe travel and that each of us will grow much closer to our Lord.

Today marks the eve of pre-leave NOLA!or as I read "one more sleep"..It's 54 degrees here in Illinois and let's hope its warmer in New Orleans !
As you can see the supplies have arrived at the church in the lower 9th ward! YEAH Steve!! As we prepare to depart this part of Illinois for a week of hard work in NOLA I pray that each one that is going can become closer to our Lord in ways that we could not imagine,one must ask them self before leaving whats your purpose? Mine, well I'll share that as the week goes on I ask each of you to partner with us in prayer as we depart for New Orleans and pray for our safe travels as we all meet in New Orleans ,till tomorrow

A "New Year" brings old memories back to Camp Restore

Happy New Year to all!

As we prepare to head back down to NOLA this January 7, 2012 to continue the restoring efforts of Katrina's devistation to the lower 9th ward Camp Restore has taken care of the voluteers once again with the "new" look of the Camp.

Look at the new bunks it even looks as if the mattress are new..

As the Chicago land group prepares for this 2012 adventure that God has so put on our hearts and mind to even think that there would be issues in the lower 9th ward.
As you prepare for the New Year be thankful for all we have,and for the many volunteers who have spent over the past several years since 2005 helping the area with prayer,labor and financial support get through the tough times.

As the churchs in the area get ready to head back to NOLA on January 7,2012 I ask that each of you could pray this week as we prepare to leave for safe travel ,good weather and great companionship of all the volunteers .
As in the past I will post each day (or night) of updates and yeah Gods that we see and share !
Also God has blessed me with the oppertunity to be able to go a second week in January the week of the 21st-28th so I will also keep you all updated on the progress that week as well.

Final Post for October 2011!

Greetings to you all!

This past October the mission trip to NOLA was a very productive trip! The crews went down expecting nothing and received so much.
The men got a "MAN CAVE" all week and the women"were voted off the island"!
Meaning the camp was in such a disarray and little critter friends our very dedicated ladies decided that it would be in the best interest to move off site. So if anyone asks yep voted off!
Thats just an idea of what a great,incredible oh ya. and AWESOME week it was. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard and so long! Thank you Chicago,Crystal Lake ,Batavia,Dundee and Texas!
The next trip is scheduled for January 7-14 2012 ! Hope to see you there

Day 5 Trinity & Road trip

Greetings to you all from Mississippi !

Today marked our last day at Trinity Lutheran Church in the lower ninth ward of New Orleans.
It may have only been a half of a day but we worked hard right up till the end and completed so much!
I do not have the total square feet but will try to get it,how ever the place looks great!
The alarm system has been installed and the electric is 75% completed with the church being left.
The laughter continued onto and through today! This was a small group and just a great experience for all involved on this trip to NOLA and looking forward to the next trip when ever it may happen.
The next trip is scheduled for January 7 so if you are interested in helping in the kingdom watch for more information to come.
I do have some additional pictures for you all to view.
I would like to say thank you to Bob (obie) and Adam for there great assistance to us this past week!

Tomorrow we plan on arriving back to Dundee around 3 or 4 pm so prayers of safe travel would be awesome!

Greetings all!
Another great day at Trinity with the electric being roughed in at 65% and no more walls yo be completed !
Today was a warm and sunny day here in New Orleans with our day starting out with a great breakfast at camp.
Tonight as I write we are at mulate's enjoying some local food waiting for our food!
Tomorrow will be another day of work till about 2 pm then we are headed back to Illinois with a stop over night in Mississippi .
Once again the laughter has been a great source of strength!
Also tomorrow when I have the laptop I'll add more pictures .

Trinity Day 3

Greetings from NOLA on day 3 at Trinity!
What a great day here in NOLA it was started off just a little cool today but ended up a great day of weather which translated into a great day of work here at Trinity !
The upstairs at the church is now completed with electric! Yeah God....and most of all the framing of walls is done!
The security system has been started to be installed by Kevin and Ed,and the cat 6 and phone lines have been completed by myself and Gerry!
Tonight we went down town New Orleans on a lark ,(ha) and heard some great live music in the park and were able to enjoy some of the local food that was being sold there as well.
Afterwards we came back to Camp Restore for some GREAT laughter that seemed as if it would never end :-)
Tomorrow looks to be another busy day at Trinity with much work to be completed to try to meet our goal.
I'm working on getting some video up so you all can see the progress that we have done the pictures just don't show it all.

Tomorrow night we are going down to New Orleans again to enjoy some of the local food and see the area for those that have not been here in the past.

Day 2 at Trinity

Greetings from NOLA or day 2 at Trinity!

Once again we had a great day at Trinity. Lot’s of work done and a lot of sweat off our bodies………..

This AM we thought we were going to get a cold front move in fast as you can see by the picture below, but the wind didn’t pick up till about 5pm after the heavy down pour of rain..

The laughter has been really high here in NOLA and Trinity Lutheran with the electricians and carpenters….hmmm Ill let you all figure that one out.

Tomorrow brings mid week…yes hump day and there will be lot’s of work to be done. Something tells me that we will be starting in the worship are of the church tomorrow for electric. Most of the upstairs is all done with just a little finishing work to be completed.

There is so much work yet left here at Trinity, we are just hitting the tip of the ice berg. With an April open date Trinity needs help! Time, talent or treasure would be of great assistance so please consider any of the above you can follow the link on yesterday’s blog to find out more.

Day 1 at Trinity Lutheran

Greetings to you all!
Today was a very productive day,electric was started and the carpenters continued working on the plumbing walls and framed the walls for the bathrooms.Also today the concrete came about 4pm and the rush then was on!
Today was the latest day that we ever returned back to Camp Restore about 5:45pm with diner at 6pm! We ate in our work clothes.....YUK! We had corn bread,red beans and rice salad and banana pudding .....was not bad!
Today's temperature in New Orleans today was 87 with about 80% humidity....with a breeze.It really didn't seem that hot........

Day 2 Camp Restore

Greetings to you all !

We have made it today to New Orleans about 3pm ....... Greeted to a 88° day here in NOLA!
The camp was (is) kind of a disaster in itself. We started off by install beds to the second floor of the school , for those of you that don't know it is on the same property where we stayed in the past.
The beds were used in construction of trinity when the charter school moved in and the Mississippi restore closed. The cubes or train cars are still here and will be moved off site soon.
Chris and Kevin as I write are making additional beds now for future use.
Seeing that the team is about 14 I will throughout the week post pictures of each so you can place names with faces as we go along.
Tonight it is 75° and clear. We are watching the bears game and I am on the "balcony" coined by Jon enjoying the quite and the clear night.
If you all could prayers for tomorrow of a well organized day and a clear plan on our work would be totally awesome!

We have arrived at our first destination in Tennessee ! It was a great drive from Illinois today sunshine all the way! It is about 80 degrees here today and sunny.
We are all going out for some fried chicken tonight on Beale st and maybe some great music we'll let you know!
All of us are looking forward to getting back to work at trinity but not until we get all the bunks moved back in to camp restore!

One Week Post Trip

Greetings to you all from the arctic tundra!
It seems like yesterday that we were complaining of the cool weather in La.on the mission trip ........tell me that our God does not have a sense of humor!
This year's trip was good,productive and another awesome time.Though there were many of us the work just kept getting done as you will see in the slide show Ive put together.

Many of us here in NOLA this year seemed to be relaxed a little more,however when were relaxed that is the opportunity that the evil forces will take advantage of and try to move in,but not here we had numbers! Roughly 150+ who supported ,encouraged and gave everyone hope!
The target date for the opening is 2012 for Trinity Claiborne who once served 150 9th ward residents so if you don't have plans for 2011 you can always serve at camp restore it's not your usual B&B but the rewards are heavenly.Or if you decide that you just don't have the time any donations need to be specified Trinity Claiborne and that would keep the project on target!

Today marked day 5 at camp restore with a BIG finish at the job sites.some folks are staying till Sunday to finish the roof.
It has been quite the week!

Opportunity not just luck! That my friends is the word of the day....
Today was another fix & repair day here at camp restore which is in much need of repair itself and which we take for granite each and every day.
Trinity is coming along very nicely with major roof overhaul repair.Many projects are getting done & started for other groups to finish as the year goes on.Who would thought that all this work still needs to be done after all these years!
Also on tonights post I've included shots of the opening at Trinity!

Today we were at Trinity and our task was to get temp lighting installed that was stolen not long ago..and we did.

Everyone is starting to get more relaxed,and more comfortable with each other so the rest of the week should be interesting......

Goodmorning!
Today marks our 2nd work day here at camp restore and things are changing!groups are starting to merge and the workers are being flexible.
Trinity yesterday was worked on with great care and speed. The roof was a complete tear off and today they will start roofing! I'll try to get some pictures off it today.
Our group today will be installing temp.lighting at trinity for the neighborhood gathering on Thursday. Only problem someone stole the service right off the electric pole and cut the wires on the electric company's side! Can not believe it.

First Night in Camp Restore

Greetings once again from Camp Restore! Today everyone arrived and we had a opening service at Trinity Claiborne which was chilly but awesome!I have merged a few videos together through the IPhone on movie maker,go figure on a cell!
All of our teams have been assigned and yes I,Bill and Jon happen to be team leaders......help us Lord!
Today we had lots of rain and high winds but a average of 47 degrees. Ill take that.......and of course we heard that the pack won...ok some watched it..Good luck Pack.
You can feel the excitement building of willingness to serve and also the unexpected it's pretty awesome to see as some of you remember of what I like most of the mission trips.

So looks as if its going to be a early night so till tomorrow .

We have arrived!(the flyers) camp restore has changed,allot! A few things are the same but most of it has changed.tomorrow I will try to get pictures posted for you and through the week.
It is very quite here tonight only 6 of us in camp.I know tomorrow we are going to clean camp,massively I'm glad Ken is here:-) to give us some good direction.
The thermometer reads about 50 tonight which is very nice compared to the 14 in Chicago which we left this am.

Greetings from the air some where 40,000 feet over the us! Looks as if we are excepting high winds in NOLA tomorrow and could flood so the forecast says.
This is my first time flying out of midway and I must say it was a good experience.
Looks as if I will be landing in Birmingham Al. For a brief lay over then on to New Orleans !

OK Ive been watching flights to NOLA in January and thought that Southwest was the cheapest (which I booked ) out of midway......and today AA out of ORD has dropped them to $60.00 each way as well! Do ya think they know about the mission trip ?? Can't drive it for that !WOW what a deal...just remember if you fly transportation is needed once you get there ,so I suggest that you get with a group and rent a car.

Greetings from NOLA

Today is the final day of the NYG 2010 with the closing Mass Event at 9am.

WOW last night’s event was pretty neat. There were 25,000 people all at once in a church type setting with Holy Communion. Was totally cool!

We had the last day of the convention center yesterday, this is where the kids listen to different speakers and or top known bands, ok maybe wanna be bands too.

There is also different events for them to do to such as, karaoke ,climbing wall, obstacle course, bungee jumping, State police with their goovy type glasses that mess your vision up like someone may have been drinking then they do goofy stuff so they can see what a difference it makes.Ah what a exhausting day.

I have come to the conclusion that this is a MUST DO for every high school teenager and WE should start promoting NOW ! As a CLB well that was a little different and I put my final thoughts up later but we have a plane to catch so till then from NOLA see ya

Yesterday marked the first full day of the gathering! And it was a full packed day. The kids were everywhere!

Terry is working in the “LOOK” area and I am working traffic (kid traffic) for the bible studies in the AM.

The weather here has hot & humid, but from what I understand it has been hot in Illinois as well.

The mass event was just that MASS! Very crowded but well worth the wait for the band, effects and the speakers. Last night we even had a sample of the skit guys.

A couple of draw backs is the walking……..Terry and I have logged roughly 3+ miles a day with the hotel being 1.3 miles away give or take.

The LCMS has done a good job on the organizing of the event again but of course now seeing it as a whole there could be areas that need to be tweaked…L

We did see our kids today a couple of times which was nice.They are all doing good and Dave,Kevin & Cena look to be doing good to!

Today brings day 2 of the gathering at full speed just what will it behold?

Oh yes how could I forget ,Pastor Yonker is here to and looks to be like he is doing good to and is having a nice time seeing all of his old acquaintances.

Greetings from New Orleans!

Today marks day 3 for us here in NOLA the CLB’s and what a day it was! First let me bring you up to date about yesterday!

We had training from 8am till about 6pm with a 1 hour lunch, and several breaks it was almost a over load….But it’s all good! Today we broke out into our groups of workers and toured the building that the events are in and had a crash training our job our specifics.

There were kids rolling in all day with a sea of GREEN yes a neon type GREEN back packs floating all around Canal street! Very cool to see.

Last night we ended up going to the world famous Pat O’Brien’s for dinner and it was very good so were the hurricanes.

Tonight was a servant worship for all the yav and the clb’s was very cool about maybe 500? Not sure but the music was good.

Also a surprise to day one of the yav was one of (kinda)our own Carli M (no last names sorry ) but she works at the best coffee shop around…..caribou got it ?? Anyway that was good seeing her here today as well.

We ate at a place called jesters tonight and had a po’boy sandwich it was OK ,but waiting to see what tomorrow will bring!

Well I’m going to get some video tomorrow and try to post it on the site if not I’ll put it on YouTube and post the link ! Also tomorrow night is the opening MASS EVENT at the dome! Ill get some video of that to,I hope.

Don’t forget our kids (Immanuel youth ) have not arrived yet to their destination tonight so be praying for them. Also for Terry and I as we get enough sleep for the demands that the job requires here in NOLA.

Day 1 NYG 2010

Wow! I must say it is quiet different here in July than January ..........Man O man it is HOT and sticky......Brazil was cool in comparison.
The flight was good ,full we sat with Minnesota people and Wisconsin people coming to the gathering was good.
The Dome is all ready to ROCK ! Met some good people here today and looking forward to tomorrow.
We have went to the coffee shop,yes Pastor cafe DeMonde and bought some good stuff for our AM wake up,oh ya 6am........we also went to Crescent City for some adult beverages oh and of course The New Orleans Cigar Factory ,Terry was shocked to see them making them right there in front of us ! GROOVY ! Well we are excepting rain the rest of the week so we'll see......till tomorrow night.Does anyone have good suggestion for a place for dinner? Thinking of Pat O'Brien's but been there got the T-shirt..? So send suggestions..! Till tomorrow :-)

Final post for Gulf Coast trip 1 for 2010

Greetings to you all !

I finally can write and say that the trip to New Orleans 2010 was one of the most interesting trips that I've been on.

We now have been back for a little over 2 months the presentations are done and it's now just a memory for us that that we were able to help or brothers in New Orleans.

But allot has happened in the past short few months that the Illinois Team has not stopped working (thanks St.Matthews Barrington).The team has taken Trinity Claibourne under our wing and have decided to see it rebuilt and not only the construction phase but also the spiritual growth phase as well. YEAH GOD! So the trip in January was awesome who knows what next January will bring or where it may take place God's hand in action here and if you don't think so talk to anyone who has been involved in any of the trips to New Orleans which includes those who pray ,financially support and go to the mission field of New Orleans.

Thank you all for your continued support and I will update as I hear additional news.

Lastly I am going to also use this site to update all on the National Youth Gathering in July of 2010 in New Orleans La. So check back

Well today we finished what we could at Mary's house here in New Orleans much drywall..I thought I would not have to do any of this here this year but then again I did not think I would get a different van down here either?!

Once again it's sunny and about 74 here it sure is nice! Everyone is all showered and getting ready to go see the sights in town and then diner and maybe a coffee from caffe deMonde? Hmmmmm looks like were going to port of call for the best burgers in New Orleans.

We also heard from Tim who happens to be in Mississippi working at the sister camp and is been working since Monday as well.I will post more on Tim later once I get some more updates on what he's been up to.

We finished our tile job today and then went to Larry's mother in -laws home to help dry wall the cajun cutters job AKA pastor Baerwolf.

So dry wall ,not so much fun,12ft sheets and lots of people but the skill level is all differnt .So thats the work day not to exciting...

But Im old cafe demund soon.......

So not a whole lot new things happening but rain and 60 degrees + so till a little bit latter,night

Tuesday Work Day 2

Greetings from Camp Restore!

Well what a past ride this has been for the past 24 hrs here!Recorded 2 devotions for pastor and sent them of last night for today at school and for the voters meeting (all Immanuel was there ,right?) and started off today without knowing what the day would be hold......

At the job site we finished most of the tiling job that we started on Monday and I received the call from the dealer about the news on the LARKN5 that it was done and I could pick it up anytime!So after lunch Bill drove me over to the dealer and I paid for the van (365.00) for what I translated into a transmission service...Then I drove the LARKN5 to the used car lot not more than 1000 feet and looked at a 2003 town & country van ,you ask why? I just had a feeling that that could not be the fix.So after driving the other car ,the used car lot drove my van kicked the tires and then they drove it.When they got back they kicked the tires again and pointed out that the transmission was leaking fluid,bad...so they took it over to the dealer ,not more that 1000 feet away and had it re-looked at .....now I was told you need a new front seal!! And that will be 650.00 dollars more! ok those of you that know me know that I worked at a dealer as a mechanic for 11 years as a mechanic and went to Denver Automotive trade school back in the 80s sooooo.I told you that so I could tell you this (sorry Pastor) the LARKN5 is now no more!It has been traded in for a 2003 Town & Country though it will still carry the LARKN5 plate !

So this saga is now over YEAH GOD!and my lovely bride who took care of everything on the Illinois side and had to deal with ME!

Mean while back at camp restore - all seems to be calm ,everyone is having a very good time and seemed to settle in to there short mission venture..who knows what God has in store for the rest of the week,can't wait.

Oh ya, Jon seems to be relaxing just a little easier now to.And yes I'm flying home and Jon will be driving home in the "new" car!

Today started at 6am with the light in the hallway coming on..hmmmmm.Then breakfast at 7am and left for the job at 8am.

We are very lucky are job is about 1.3 miles away..We ended up doing tile ,again .Hommer I miss you and wish you were here!You to Zach the tile master !But I must say the crew is catching on very fast :-).

Now in New Orleans

Greetings to you all from the lounge area of New Orleans.

Today started as a normal day ,actually better than normal with the flight being on time and arriving early to New Orleans.
The weather here is warm about 62 and the excitement is very high! Yea God:-) Tonight we all met a the church glory Dei for diner and church service.Then after that we went to the 9th ward in a church that we are going to before working in ,some of us any how.Any ways to finish we had communion there as well you can see how it looks here in the video. Also note that there is NO electric in this church that is a generator giving us power.also there is no walls either.

Also on another note today when the Larkn5 came into town they stopped for gas and then went to leave and started having troubles with the van shifting.....So needless to say the van at this point has been towed to the local dealer for a look see tomorrow and see what's happening.That's the picture up top.

So for prayers tonight and tomorrow: Much needed sleep and rest for tonight,For the workers at the job sites and the lives of the folks at the work sites.

Also that the larkn5 five is in good hands and the van will be up and running very soon.

To be with the families of the ones who are being missed tonight and will be all week.

The Team Has Left !

Good Morning to you all !

Well just to let you all know the team has blasted off this morning withe a great breakfast from the mens club of Immanuel Lutheran east Dundee.

The team pulled out about 6:15am with al full cube truck with lot's of coats from the folks in New Orleans.

Today's prayer would be : Safe travel for the teams to make it to Hernando Miss.that all cars would have no problems and good weather and good health for all.

Tomorrow there will be another group leaving by plane,which i will be a part of as well .

One week till the team arrives

Happy Sunday to all

Today was a very special day with the cantata service at Immanuel church in East Dundee as we praised our Lord with much song and joy.

Today also marked a great accomplishment for one young man who received a great honor today with his hard work,dedication and determination congratulation's Andrew on receiving your Eagle badge today at the Eagle court of honor with troop 2.

Today also marks the 1 week till we leave for New Orleans 2010,which means we will be where it's warmer!God willing ! Sorry but that sounds so awesome at this time of the year......but it will be such a great thing to be helping some folks where most others have given up on.
But I think the high light for me is to be able to see the love that is shared with those who just don't fully understand why were there and those that make the trip with us and realise why they came ! To see that upon there face is the best one could ask for.
We can only do so much in one weeks time,but the time we spend there could influence someones outlook on life forever.

In the coming week I will be posting a prayer request list for each day if you feel so inclined to pray for us that would be great!

Final meeting Pre-trip 2010

Greetings friends

Well tonight was our 1 and only meeting pre-trip for New Orleans 2010 ! Yeah God :-) We now have a total of 64 people going from I believe 13 Church's in the area and I will be more specific later.
We have 52 driving in a caravan to Hernando Mississippi for the first night then to make the distance on the next day to Camp Restore.The rest are flying down.

This year will be a bit different for me cause I am one of those flyer's....I really wanted to drive down cause there is so much sharing and getting to know each other on that trip.But with so many going our van the LARKN5 will be making the trip with Jon at the wheel....wow that in itself is a big no ,ginormous leap for me as well as my wonderful bride but hey it's all good.

Dave is the group leader for the trip who has done a excellent job and has really seen the needs of the group and has a tight rein on us but knows when to release the pressure and say just be careful,thanks Dave from all of us for the work you and SMB and the planning committee has put forth in this well needed mission.

Well once again I can't wait to see what the "road treat's" are in the Baerwolfs car on the way down which generally is anything from a mixture of great m&m's ,cereal,peanut's raisins and god only knows what else..Deb save me some?

OK what you can expect between the 2 blogs that are up for this trip are updates with pictures and maybe even some candid interviews with well who knows.
Maybe my job this year will be the poverotsi Ha can you arrange that Steve?

Steve is our pre-planner who will go down this year 3 days before the group will arrive and have all the jobs lined up with a material list ready to go,which saves allot of time on Camp Restores end ..as we were told they look forward to this group coming cause it's so large and talented,(they didn't say that I did,the talented part) and so much gets done with little effort on there part ,kinda like a vacation for them which is good to.

I now will be updating the mission trip on this site due to the ease of anyone being able to access it.(Thanks Ginny)
Our trip(when I say our I mean yours and mine) will take place January 16-23 2010. We now have about 61 people going to serve our families in New Orleans La.(NOA) my plan is to post pictures maybe video through out the trip for families ,friends and anyone else interested!
So the site is still in progress and some pictures may also be put on facebook as well so till then keep us in your prayers.
